We should re-wire how we traditionally think about luck. The most traditional viewpoint is that there are some things in our lives that we can’t control. As I’ve gained experience in the world, I realize that sometimes if I try really hard to do something that seems impossible, it could happen due to an accumulation of small, seemingly “luck based” factors. Aligning as many factor-dipoles as possible makes things happen. To manufacture luck, we should figure out how to align the dipoles in the direction we want.
We always have a certain amount of control over each dipole. Luck happens when we use that control in as many dipoles as possible to align them as much as possible with our desired direction. It’s good to keep in mind that there’s dipoles we don’t know about, and we should continuously look for more dipoles.
Sometimes we don’t know what direction we should align the dipoles. We should always show up densely. In this scenario, it becomes much more important. Showing up densely looks like generating a large volume(for maximizing presence) of as high quality and rigorous work(for maximizing longevity) as possible as fast as possible(for maximizing time ROI). Our personality cores and preexisting inertia¹ carry us to the next-best suited opportunity when we aren’t sure of direction. Of course, having direction is always ideal.
